Blue Nexus: Dark Soul Pt. 4 - The Prayers of Gods

Previously in "Blue Nexus: The Dark Soul": Kyle and Brenda journeyed to the lost, great Halls of Penetanon to see if they could find what the nefarious mage group, the Mystic Sven, had discovered. There they encountered a young woman named She, who informed them of the mysterious nature of the Dark Soul. Kyle and Brenda were separated, and while Brenda was flung to the far future, Kyle found himself face-to-face with a young Aequitas and his black dragon.

This week, the art is all over the place, there's Power Rangers all over the place, and I still can't believe Avengers: Infinity War is premiering so soon. HYPE. Also major storylines are setup. MORE HYPE.

The Importance of Legacy in Power Rangers

When a show exists for a long time, say something like 25 years, it tends to build something of a history behind it. It creates a mythos, something that people will remember during its long run and, hopefully, well after it's done. In television, shows like Star Trek live on in now just how they shaped the Science Fiction genre, but also key characters and motivations that have been either revived in different media, or been made a point of reference. However, sometimes it's just important for a series to look back and reflect on its own legacy. The comic book character The Flash has an immense history that's built almost exclusively on the legacy of Jay Gerrick and Barry Allen. But perhaps few shows or series analyze and give respect to legacy better than Power Rangers...most of the time.

Major Issues: Superman by Peter Tomasi & Patrick Gleason

Superman is, oddly enough, a controversial character. Some people see him as an icon, an ideal that most superheroes should attempt to reach. He symbolizes the best of humanity, he symbolizes what it means to be a superhero. For others, he's a boring overpowered alien that says witty things and isn't nearly as cool as other members of the DCU like Batman or Wonder Woman. Superman is the thing that binds the universe together, or he's the weakest link. But, regardless of your opinion on the Man of Steel, everyone can equally admit that he is certainly special, he's important. But, why is that? Why does Superman matter? I believe that's what Peter J. Tomasi and Patrick Gleason set out to explore in their most recent run of Superman in the "Rebirth" era, and, for my money, I think they answered that question: Superman matters because we matter.
