Top 10 Heroes (Redux)

Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and accept the fact that mistakes were made and that things just need to be redone. I'll stand by the fact that, at the time, those characters were my favorite heroes, but times have changed and nearly two years have passed by now. If you would like to check out my previous Top 10 heroes list, you may certainly do so here.

While I don't want these sorts of Top 10 lists to become an annual thing, in which I go back and make a "redo" list, it is always fun to assess and look back on where I was and what characters have captured and held my attention for so long. Or, rather, what heroes.

The idea of making an anti-hero list has always amused me, and it would not be one too difficult to make. It certainly makes placing characters on this list hard. It can often be a tough line to draw for a heroes and anti-heroes list with me, as characters of late have been in a morally grey area. While there are some very clear good guys on this list, there are also some that you may tilt your head at.

Also, like my previous villains list redo, there will be some repeats on here...though not necessarily in the same order. This list is much different than the one before. With that said, let's get right into it!

2016 Most Anticipated Movies

Oh boy, 2016. The year of sequels, hopes, dreams, and heroes fighting each other. But, hey, what else is new, am I right? This'll also be the year that the cinema takes all my money, because there are seven movies that I definitely will see, and a couple here and there that are on my radar that I'm considering. They might be my "Redbox movies" of the year. But, overall, it's a pretty hype year.

Should Dragon Rulers return to Yu-Gi-Oh!?

The October 2015 Forbidden/Limited List is on its way soon, possibly even being revealed within the next week, and so as it approaches I can only help but wonder two things: 1. Are they really going to keep Stratos on the Forbidden List for more formats? 2. Should the "Dragon Rulers" come back?

Now, granted, there are a lot of things that need to happen in order for either of those things to happen. I'm not honestly not too sure what we'll see this coming list. I'll assume Elder Entity Norden gets a solid Limiting, as might Instant Fusion as those two go together well. Therefore Super Polymerization will probably stay on the list. And, given that Satellarknights won the 2015 World Championship, some of their key cards will also see a bit of a hit. Maybe even Necroz, because why not? I wouldn't be mad.

How to Play/ Get Into: the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game

When it comes to hobbies/ things I've been playing since I was a wee lad, few top Yu-Gi-Oh!. I mean sure I quit the game for a while, but, we were all trying to "find our real identities" in middle school, weren't we?

Plus GX was getting a bit lame for me, I needed to take a break from "throw down a facedown" and "get your game on" for a bit.

I returned following the big boom that was Trishula getting banned/ the end of the Plant-Synchro era, but I got into the game just in time for the Wind-Up/ Inzektor format, the Dino Rabbit format (which wasn't that bad, I found), and of course, who could forget the classic Dragon Ruler format? :-)

'Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds" Review

I know that I'm a significant minority here, but I wasn't the greatest fan of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. It was cool, with a lot of throwbacks to the previous show, and had pretty cool archetypes (Elemental Heroes, Cyber-, Destiny Heroes, etc.) But, it was during this time that I decided to take a break from Yu-Gi-Oh!, both the TV show and card game. It just wasn't interesting my middle school mind anymore, not like the original series entertained my young elementary school imagination. Because...Dartz and stuff. That was cool.

So one morning, at around seven or so, on a random Saturday, I decided to check out Cartoon Network, see what was going on. And to my surprise...

CARD GAMES ON MOTORCYCLES.

Yu-Gi-Oh!: Swinging into a new era

By now it's pretty obvious that Pendulum Summoning is going to change the game, just as Synchro and Xyz summoning did. I've been of the belief, ever since the new mechanic was slowly revealed, that while it will at first have a pretty big impact on the surface, I don't think the meta game is going to be affected by it for a little while.

Case and point: Infernity, a deck that's been around since before I got into the game, just won the World Championship. Congrats to that player, by the way, it's pretty impressive to go from 6th place at Nationals to the best player in the world. Anyway, though, it just goes to show that an old deck is indeed capable of using a newer mechanic, Xyz Summoning, to become successful.

Yu-Gi-Oh! April 2014 banlist predictions/ hopes

Alright so we're closing in on the date long awaited in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG community: the day that the banlist gets leaked. Not even confirmed, just leaked. Why? Because it gives us more time to be made that Trishula didn't come back to being Limited (I'm never selling mine, I know it's coming back...it's why I held onto Magician of Faith, too).

Sometimes, the banlist "leaks" aren't true, actually, most of the time they are a little wrong. There are a few people who can predict things and get it close, but, then Konami of America just does the wierdest things, like destroy three decks in one swoop by banning their main cards. Whoops.

Hero Rulers in Yu-Gi-Oh!

On September 1st, 2013, there was a deck that was officially killed off by the ban-hammer. A fan favorite, even: Heroes. Heores (be it Evil, Destiny, Elemental, etc.) died due to their main man, Stratos, going. Stratos was the only reason the deck still had a pulse, let alone saw people playing it. Heroes, for the longest time, was just a for-fun deck in Yu-Gi-Oh! anyway, due to more powerful decks stepping up.

And on January 1st, 2014 in the TCG world of Yu-Gi-Oh! (so basically everywhere except like Japan and a few other Asian nations), there another deck, unanimously, died in the community. Dragon Rulers were slain and I rejoiced for days.

Rogue decks are liked unranked teams

It seems that the past two summer formats, the March 2012 and March 2013, were two of the worst formats anyone has ever seen in the game of Yu-Gi-Oh! You had two decks to run, and those were really your only options. Dino Rabbit and Wind-Ups plowed through everything until the banlist came around and Mermails had their time to shine. Then the March 2013 banlist saw the ridiculousness that was Dragon Rulers and Prophecy. The 2012 one wasn't that bad because there were still a lot of key staple cards to be hit, so a rogue deck could peep in every now and again, but, 2013 was miserable. You either played Dragon Ruler or Prophecy, or you basically lost. Whatever had the potential to defeat Dragon Rulers or Prophecy was demolished by Evilswarm, which has yet to be hit by the ban hammer.

The Necessary Evil of Dragon Rulers in Yu-Gi-Oh!

You know who they are. Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water. Long ago the Yu-Gi-Oh! world was settling back into a world of balance, where Wind-Ups and Inzectors were losing their brokenness and rogue decks could see play (even Harpie's were looking to be a viable deck). Then, everything changed when the Dragon Rulers attacked. Only Konami, master of all ban-lists, could stop them. But when the world needed them most, they hit other cards.
