Previously on Blue Nexus (#1-13)...

Last year, starting in early September, I introduced a brand new hero (the inspiration for which I got during my Science Fiction class) to the blog, and for thirteen straight weeks, displayed his adventures from some athlete to a world-renowned super-hero. I took a month long break from him to not only avoid burnout, but also finish up my book (I wrote a book, by the way) and get started on the second one. Plus, I had to go Christmas shopping, guys. Rough stuff.

But Kyle Raiden aka Blue Nexus is coming back next Thursday in "Blue Nexus #14: Training Days" for an all-new adventure featuring a trio of goofy villains. Ah, these guys. Gonna be annoying and/or fun to write.

Perhaps you don't want to read all thirteen initial stories. Perhaps you're like "who's this idiot on the Internet writing stories?" and just want to know what you've missed out on. Or maybe you just forgot what happened and want a detailed summary of what's gone down. Well, for all you and more (not like I forgot either...pft...) here is that summary:

Fourteen year-old Kyle Raiden is a second-string Varsity lacrosse player for Adelita High School, which is one of the biggest establishments in the small town of Adelita, Virginia. It's located near the often vibrant East City, but, nothing much really happens there. A great awakening occurs, though, when an alien attacks the town, and attacks Kyle. The alien, Gargador, promises to kill Kyle just like he did Kyle's parents. However, a super-hero shows up and manages to distract Kyle enough to get home. Back at his home, he goes to the shed he built that holds all of the stuff his parents left behind for him when they suddenly vanished.

Kyle finds a blue bracelet, and then is suddenly transported to a place of pure darkness, where he meets the Sentient Aequitas. Aequitas explains what the Nexus is--a great source of power in the universe that can be bent to the will of the user. Kyle, with the combination of his parents's Nexus bracelets, is now a wielder of the Nexus. It's wielders are what the War Gods, eight of the most powerful beings in the universe, are out to destroy. Kyle returns to Earth as the Blue Nexus, and with the help of the other Nexus user, aptly called Hood Nexus, they force Gargador to flee.

Three days later, Kyle shows his two best friends Kip and Luke about it after they see him battling a robot that was following him. The super-hero Phoenix shows up and gives him some flight training, then tells him that he is meant to be here on Earth, and not go gallivanting for his parents. Phoenix then directs him to go to the moon, where he meets the famous Martian hero Riko, who extends him the offer of joining Earth's super team, the Zanderia.

Riko explains that the Zanderia is an alien term for guardian, and that they are going to help the Earth ease into this era in which humans and aliens will collide, but will also serve as Earth's greatest protectors. Kyle agrees to join and gets a communicator.

Meanwhile, at Adelita Community College, Dr. Boomer and Dr. Luna plan with Gargador to get the bracelet from Kyle so that they may be in good favor with a War God. At lacrosse practice the next day, Kyle's head is swirling with different thoughts about being with the Zanderia, and when he is least expecting it, he takes a huge shot to the head that sends him into a daze for the rest of practice. His long-time crush, Mira, approaches him and makes sure he is okay. To his surprise, she also asks Kyle out to ice cream.

Kyle constantly wonders if he is on a date, but that does not seem to be the focus of Mira's conversation, as she asks Kyle about the Blue Nexus. Ultimately, Kyle manages to dodge the conversation, still shaky on talking to people about it, clearly, but the date results in him questioning big time if Mira is into him romantically. This distracts him during the boys and girls lacrosse scrimmage the next morning. After talking with the captain, Brian--who recommended him to be on the team--he gets his stride back. However, a humongous player arrives and "accidentally" pummels Kyle before he can pretty much kill Sandy, a girl lacrosse player who has a huge crush on Kyle and is Mira's best friend. The player reveals himself to Kyle as Gargador in human form, and when Kyle goes to the nurse he finds that his ribs are broken. Mira, his friends, and grandparents help him get home.

He is pretty miserable around school the next day, but Sandy clings to Kyle trying to help him out. Gargador does not strike, but keeps Kyle on edge. When Kyle comes home after standing by during lacrosse practice, he sees a car chase in progress, and goes after it as the Blue Nexus. His ribs are fine during the chase and he gets some praise from the police. The next day at school, Gargador and Kyle talk, where Gargador tries to fight Kyle human-to-human, but Kyle manages to survive yet his ribs are further injured.

Detective Patton shows up at school, where Kyle plays Gargador by saying he is probably the Blue Nexus, since Patton is looking for whoever the Blue Nexus is, tracking him down to the town and probably is a student. Kyle decides to put together a search party to find Gargador, recruiting Kip, Luke, Mira, and Sandy. Since the town is small, he figures it'd be pretty easy.

Luke gets knocked out by Gargador, and Kyle meets an older girl with red hair and red eyes. She's also really pretty, and she is able to fly, and tells Kyle she is there to help him find Gargador. They manage to track him down, and she displays the ability to create red force-fields, trapping Gargador under one and then Kyle puts on the finishing move. Before Kyle can obliterate him, Gargador vanishes mysteriously.

The girl, Brenda, tells Kyle that she was sent to protect him and that she knows his parents, and once again tells him to stray away from going after them. Brenda follows Kyle around as a protector, going to his aid when he falls in battle again, and helps tend to his wounds. That evening, Phoenix calls Kyle up to deal with a disturbance in East City, and tells him to allow Brenda to tag along. The two go, and Phoenix calls it off, but they are attacked anyway. Meanwhile, Dr. Boomer and Dr. Luna express far more intellect granted to them from Cata, and he puts down Gargador, intending to use him for an upcoming experiment to destroy the Blue Nexus. He also reveals Dr. Luna was the one behind the Aberrants, the things that attacked Brenda and Kyle.

Kyle, with a spear through his leg and feeling beaten, manages to get up to help protect Brenda, and infuses one of the spears with the power of the Nexus after seeing a vision in which he sees a sword at the base of the hill, with a golden knight standing atop the hill. Using the spear and a second-wind, he and Brenda put down the Aberrants. Tired, Brenda heals up Kyle, including his ribs.

The next few days, Kyle finds it very difficult to keep Brenda off his mind, and is okay with that. He knows he is falling in love with her, despite only knowing her for a while, he just feels a powerful connection with her. At night after school, Phoenix--in civilian clothing but with sunglasses to still hide his face--offers Brenda a spot on the Zanderia, and even tells her Lalay has a mission set up for them. Kyle is happy for Brenda, and is happy to know they'll be spending more time together.

The next day, during gym class, Hood Nexus arrives and tells him that Eclipse's home world of Orion Six has completely vanished, and the two use a wormhole near Jupiter to get close to the Orion System, beginning the four-part Black Nexus arc.

Blamed for the destruction of the planet, despite signs of the planet still being there, the two are taken to the main world, Orion One. Before they can be executed, a big black ball of energy begins to swallow up the planet. Kyle manages to recover a nearby girl who was being held against her will by the Lord of Orion One, but besides that, they assume all others were killed. They flee to Orion Eight, and after letting the girl go, they enter the Nexus and meet up with Aequitas, who gives them the history of the Nexus and how he and his brother were one of the original Nexus users and had a ton of power because of it.

Aequitas's brother soon turned, and even in capture, he was able to manipulate Nexus energy to turn it into a negative-type of energy, one that absorbs the positive energy planets give off, and thus is able to completely blank planets at will without really using much energy. He then assigns Kyle with the task of defeating his brother, the Black Nexus. Hood Nexus and Kyle go off to fight Black Nexus, but are easily tossed aside while he heads toward Earth.

Hood Nexus gets up quicker than Kyle and soars toward Earth, but Kyle finds himself drained of energy. When he finally arrives, he sees Black Nexus putting down Riko and finishing off Hood Nexus, He even manages to stop Eclipse's psychic attacks. Black Nexus tosses a large black ball of energy toward the Earth, and Kyle gets in the way, struggling to stop it before he unlocks a hidden power within himself to pour more energy from the Nexus into him, beginning to convert the negative energy into the positive energy required to destroy Black Nexus. Brenda arrives to help hold off Black Nexus and with the aid of Hood Nexus, Kyle launches the now positive energy ball at Black Nexus, destroying him.

Brenda, Hood Nexus, and Kyle all meet up with Aequitas back in the Nexus, where Aequitas reveals Kyle has truly ascended behind all barriers, since he has attained this great power without using his actual bracelet, since the one he owns is the combination of two others'. Aequitas promises he will eventually get his own bracelet, one that will grant him even more entrance into the Nexus power. And so, we finally come to a break where all of the Zanderia is gathered and celebrating Kyle's saving of the world, looking forward to the future.

And #14: Training Days is coming your way Thursday! See you then.
