Blue Nexus #13: Moving Forward

It was about ten years ago, a moment Kyle liked to forget typically. He was in his neighborhood with his mom and dad, and several other neighborhood kids were there. Most of them were gone now, but the ones that remained after that still seemed to like at Kyle for it. Except for Kip and Luke, who never really bring it up.
Really it’s not a big deal. Seven year olds often cry in public. But never did their parents have to come over and comfort them while they were with the other kids. It was the sign of a crybaby, someone who wasn’t really cool.

Blackest Night #7-8 Review

Well, we've finally reached the end of "Blackest Night." It's been quite...eventful. I think this part of the review is going to be the easiest simply because of how easily the final two issues flow. When I read through it a first time, I actually felt like I was just flipping through the same comic even back in Issue 5.

For the event, too, it's a very satisfying conclusion that manages to practically save the DCU. I read this way after the New 52 was already a thing, so, learning that these events wrapped up a mere year before the New 52 began is a bit disappointing, but I'll get into that once we get to Issue 8. For now, let's get on with it.

Previously on "Blackest Night:" Zombies and ah crap now the Justice League is all dead and Batman showed up and now NECKRON has raised all of the dead Coast City peeps to fight against the remaining heroes. Luckily, through the power of colorful art, a brand new breed of Lanterns has awoken and is stepping up to combat the evil Black Lanterns in what will be all-out war!

The Flash "Power Outage" Review

Man, talk about Easter Eggs! This episode was full of them!

On that note, FULL EPISODE SPOILERS FOLLOW

So, obviously, next week is the big CW event in which The Flash will crossover with Arrow next Tuesday and Wednesday. Which meant that we were all stuck waiting through this episode for next Tuesday, after all the interviews and promos had already been shown, basically.

DBZ Movie 2015 to Feature God Frieza?

So last year, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods introduced to us the concept of not only the Super Saiyan God, but of there being several other Gods in several other universes within "Dragon Ball." What the heck does that mean?

Well it gives Goku more times to transform, basically.

Still, I really liked "Battle of Gods." It was a nice return to DBZ after a long time of either having to watch Kai or GT on television. While Kai is nice, it seems to lack the filler-humor of DBZ, which was present in "Battle of Gods."

Blue Nexus #12--Black Nexus

Kyle and Hood Nexus stood motionless as Aequitas finished his tale, Kyle slowly feeling the weight building on his shoulders. He had to kill the Black Nexus, and save the entire universe.
            The universe.
That thing that nobody on Earth could comprehend in their wildest imagination. That vast expanse of emptiness save a couple of energy balls and rocks floating in it. The universe.

Arrow "Draw Back Your Bow" Review

"It means foreigner. Outsider."

hehehehehe OUTSIDER'S WAR!!

But not really.

This week's Arrow featured another archer coming to Starling City and killing some dudes. Far fewer than before, and leaving not as much of a long-term impact, but at least the villain was somewhat relevant to the overall plot of the episode. This one was a return to the previous story-line of Olicity and seeing if that ship could float.

Long story short: no.

Blackest Night #5-6 Review

Previously on "Blackest Night": Heroes and villains are becoming zombies! Millions of Black Lantern rings have scattered around the universe and are reviving the dead. This has forced our heroes into many awkward conversations with the dead about controversial storylines in the past of the DCU, in particular any regarding the Atom, Jean Loring, and Sue Dibny. Green Lantern was inadvertantly kidnapped by the Indigo Tribe to go off and do his own thing in his own comic to return in a later issue, while the Flash proclaimed Queen Mera and Ray Palmer to be the new Wonder Woman and Superman. Now, our heroes are all coming together to stand against the silly-named villain, NECKRON!

The Flash "The Flash is Born" Review

For the next two weeks, nothing is on my mind about the CW's The Flash except for the crossover it has with Arrow. That's the danger of announcing these sorts of things. Yes, it gets the fans hyped as heck, but I could care less about the goings-on of sir Barry Allen right now because I just want to see Team Arrow venture to Central City. And it doesn't help when you've got a weak villain who makes really dumb decisions and the possible reappearance of a love-triangle.

"Attack on Titan: No Regrets" Review

Wow I totally thought I was writing about a different topic today until I looked at my schedule a few minutes ago and realized I was talking about Attack on Titan, or rather a spinoff of it, and got hyped as heck to talk about this!

I'm not necessarily talking about the main series today, of course, and instead looking at the two-part manga spinoff of the Japanese series, "No Regrets."

Blue Nexus #11: Origins

“Well we have to go after him, now!” Kyle shouted, forgetting there was a frightened woman in his arms.
Hood Nexus slowly shook his head. He appeared a lot calmer than he should have been. Or at least, a lot calmer than Kyle, who was very tense and fit to burst.

Arrow "Guilty" Review

"Don't abandon me."
"Never."

I want you to have that little dialogue in the back of your mind and try to figure out who it was that partook in it. The result may surprise you.

So unlike most episodes of Arrow, this one's name could easily have been changed to another one. Instead of "Guilty," I think a great title could have been "Arsenal" or "Memories" given what happens. Yes, obviously the word 'guilty' is spelled in blood at all the crime scenes, but, still, we got major character development for Roy and the theme of the episode was at first about where guilt lay in the two crimes going on, but ultimately it was about memories.

Blackest Night #3-4 Review

Previously on Blackest Night Review: Super people being raised from the dead! Grieving Hal Jordan and Barry Allen helping audiences unfamiliar to the confusing controversial deaths of many DC heroes. Black Hand putting his...hands...in everything! Black Lantern Rings IN SPACE. Hawkman and Hawkgirl (immortals) turned into zombies. Zombie army!

IT'S JUST A THRILLER.

Manga 3-in-1's Way of Future?

Off the top of my head, some of the longest running manga--or, basically Japanese comics, and typically black and white--are Bleach, One Piece (which apparently is ONLY halfway done...how?), Naruto (which just ended), Dragon Ball, Fairy Tail, Berserk, and Full-Metal Alchemist. Several series are on the way to this mark, such as the totally unpopular and unknown Attack on Titan, while other series have already ended in a decent amount of volumes, like Deadman Wonderland and Death Note.

Blue Nexus #10--Vanishing Act

Kyle, as Blue Nexus, and Hood Nexus were suspended high in the sky over the school mere seconds after Hood Nexus told him of Orion Six’s disappearance. Though he hadn’t known much about them, he knew that the Orion System was a powerful one in the universe, particularly amongst the supers. One of their planets vanishing was definitely not a good sign, and the urgency it was presented with certainly didn’t help the situation.

Arrow "The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak" Review

Taking a bit of a break from the "Who killed Sara?" debacle--until the end of the episode--this episode of the CW's Arrow featured our origin story of everyone's favorite goth-turned-IT-girl, Felicity Smoak, also featuring her mother. This was a standout episode for Emily Bett-Rickards, who play Felicity, as she was in the spotlight for the entire episode, and was the focus of the flashbacks. We've had a surprisingly low amount of Oliver in China than I expected, even though it seems to finally be interesting in that realm.

Blackest Night #0-2 Review

I've never really read much of Green Lantern or really cared about the character prior to getting my hands on "Blackest Night." I thought he was the cocky dude on the Justice League with the green ring that could make a train. And, I'm not wrong.

Part of that was because Green Lantern always had so much stuff going on with characters whose names I simply could not comprehend. It was all very alien to me compared to the rest of DC Comics (get it, ha. It's funny). I just couldn't really get into it.

Until one fateful day, I found the "Blackest Night" paperback trade at Barnes and Noble for a mere twenty bones, and I figured, "What the heck?" It seemed cool, for sure.

Fate/Zero Review 2.0

A few moons ago, like you'd have to search for it, I reviewed a little 25 episode anime series known as Fate/Zero. At the time, I thought it was pretty great. I didn't get how epic or intense it was meant to be going through it a first time, but did feel jumbled up at the ending like I was supposed to. If you want the gritty details of my first run-through with it, check that out here.

Also my thoughts on it having the most compact first episode ever haven't changed.

Top 5 Soundtracks

Music is something in media, or just on it's own, that is something truly magical. It seems often to me that the score, or soundtrack of a movie or TV show can be something that makes or breaks it. If the show's writing and acting is good on its own, then it typically need not be helped by a good soundtrack, such as a show like Arrow. It's not something you would go and download off of iTunes, because you're not there for the music. You're there for Oliver Queen not failing the city!

Alright, Arrow reference is out of the way, let's continue.
